Eircom have just lobbed in another USO grenade. (The net cost of running the USO in 2013/2014 was €11,255,984). It hasn't gone off yet but there are now five of them lying about the place - total value €42.5 M.

    Year|Amount
    2009/2010|€6,225,219
    2010/2011|€9,945,473
    2011/2012|€7,260,000
    2012/2013|€7,950,000
    2013/2014|€11,255,984

Having about 60% of the market, Eircom would have to absorb about €25 M of that itself. But that still leaves ComReg with the difficult decision of whether to tell the rest of the industry Vodafone, Magnet, Digiweb etc that they owe Eircom the balance; €17M.

Why was privatisation a good idea?
Can we have a review period since and what might have happened with:
    1) Stupid state management
    2) Intelligent state management

Why wasn't USO extended to Broadband 10 years ago?
