    *Mod note*

Moved this to its own thread instead of derailing a different one and added a poll function

I was just about to reply on the other thread!

I don't see how the comment was relevant to the previous thread. Anyway I would be fairly certain that the vast majority of poster's are active chess players. The good thing about boards is the anonymity and I don't understand why people would provide more information about themselves.

I presume by teach do you mean slightly professionally like in a school or paid coaching at some point (or do you mean currently)? or do you mean have the FIDE trainer title?

We all play (chess.com/ICC/Playchess/over the board), but again I think you mean play chess in Ireland under the ICU at ICU rated tournaments?

I get the impression that the vast majority of the posters here are active players and fully paid up members of the ICU. I know I am.
The wonderful thing about this anonymous forum is it gives people a place to express an honest opinion without fear of being bullied by any player or coach or parent or bureaucrat who decides he doesn't like what he hears.

All this politicking and power play going on in the ICU is getting tiresome. It shouldn't be forgotten what the purpose of the organization is.

Not familiar with previous thread but I play and teach chess (no anonymous names either).
There is a group of players in the Curragh who give up their Sunday mornings to teach about 20-25 players of all levels from 6 - 12 yrs. We charge a fee to cover rent, insurance and prizes but it's small compared to soccer or GAA.

We also post details on Facebook (with parental permission) regularly.
