    morning all...

Anyone know if UPC or Vodafone (i have both... dont ask) offer static IPs for home connections?

And as a followup question, other than UPCs (stupid) "lite" implantation of IPv6, any other providers giving out REAL IPv6 connections? Again, would prefer if it was Vodafone or UPC, but anyone offering real connections would be better...

    From memory:

UPC: Business only. But theyre as good as static at 6-8 month lease times.
Vodafone: Rent em at a few euro per month add on.
Eircom: Buy em once off for circa 50 quid.

Havent seen anyone doing full dual stack, but its not normally something Id look for.

Thanks @ED E... i cant find anything on Vodafones site to tell me about their static IPs... I agree on the UPC connections... mine have been pretty much the same for the last 6 months or so... on the other hand, vodafones change every 20 hours...

Forced releases. Dunno why anyone bothers with that. Seen it before on UTV connections, though I think it may be based on BT infrastructure.

    Hi lotas,

We provide static IP addresses on our SME packages. You can find our SME Team contact details here: http://business.upc.ie/contact_us/

Our residential IP system is dynamic but designed to be as sticky as possible, for example, the IP would only be changed as a result of network works or if your modem released the IP and didn't request this again before another modem did.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks.
