Lads what dairy nut ye using at the moment? How much is it costing? Where ye getting it? How much are ye feeding per day at the moment?

I'm on dairygold 18% not the cheap one
    Cost €295/ t
    Getting 4 kg per day
Cows are out by day in at night.

Now cows are in great Nick so think the nut is working well but would like to know much lads are willing to pay and feed. Any info would be great.

P&V 16%. High maize nut with a UFL of 0.97 as fed if I remember correctly. Costing 265ish. Feeding 2-7kg, FTY, cows on 80% grass 20%maize. I'd rather be feeding less nuts, in a more simple lower input system but our cowtype makes FTY worth while.

Few of the sales lads on about the high maize being a great nut alright, haven't tried it. Does it put condition on cows after calving or are you pushing out more milk? Nut I'm using is putting nice condition on my ladies which I was looking for with breeding coming up. They are milking well enough too but I have a feeling I'm paying too much for it. I'd like to be paying about €250!

You pay for what is in a nut, ufl(energy content) is most important you want it based preferably around maize, barley etc followed by ur proteins Like soya, citrus ,distillers etc and then something like hulls and beet pulp then ur victim and and minerals.im using a hi maize 18% p but with 2.5% mega lac added feeding between 4 and 8 kg fty in parlour.switching back to hi maize 16% next week with megafat and bioplex mineral pack.supplied by roches feeds

Ufl is 0.98 and has the mega lac. Had roches in yard last week said the high maize 16% would be costing €270! What did he quote you?
