New customer with UPC and I cannot connect my VPN to my UPC network at home. I know there's nothing wrong with the VPN client as it has worked on other networks. How does one connect to the VPN across the UPC connection?

I'm going to take a guess and say that this is a result of UPC's ds-lite implementation. You should probably ask for a proper IPv4 address.

Thats most likely it. CGN is awesome.... :pac:

I had the exact same problem when I move'd to UPC. Our VPN didn't like the DS-Lite. I rang up UPC and they switched me over to IPv4 the next day.

Anyone know if UPC offer proper IPv6 and proper IPv4 at the same time? Im back on normal IPv4, but would like an IPv6 setup too...

    Hi Almostover,

We can look into the connection from your modem if you'd like? If so just PM UPC: Reps with your acc info.

    Thanks.

    Hi again Lotas,

Sorry to say but no, we only provide an IPv4 address or a DS Lite IPv6 address at any one time but we'll pass on your interest in having both simultaneously.

If you've any more questions feel free to ask in our Talk to: http://www.boards.ie/ttforum/1546

    Thanks.

I've the same issue too as well as my partner, neither of us can VPN into work. I just pm'd the UPC reps to see about the ipv6 issue.

We've been tethering from our phones the last while to get around this and it would be great to get it sorted.

I can confirm the switching off of IPv6 has worked and both of us can now vpn into work.

Thanks for this - do you switch off IPv6 from your local network config on the PC and then reboot?

You have to contact UPC to get them to turn it off. Just PM The UPC Reps/UPC: Brian with your account info and they'll do it.

Thanks Slinky2000 my issue is that i can connect through a vpn but for only a few minutes and then the network drops - by removing ipv6 from my account do you think this will this resolve my problem? Thanks...

I think so possibly. That was my problem. Mine would connect for a minute then disconnect. My partners just wouldn't connect at all.

    Hi Rochestown,

Just drop us a PM to UPC: Reps along with your account details and we can revert you to an IPv4 address if you need :-)

    Thanks.

Thanks Brian - can you please advise if you revert me to an IPv4 address will it affect my broadband performance or speed? Thanks again...

It shouldn't - I'm on an IPv4 address and have full speed.

Me too, if anything it seems faster.

I have also PM'd REPS to change to IPv4. Does anyone know how long this usually takes? Thanks

    Hi,

I am having similar issues as everyone else here with connecting to my Work VPN. I can connect to the VPN via mobile tethering but not via UPC broadband.

Is it possible to provide a valid IP4 address to see if it resolves the issue?

    Thanks!
