Just popped home for a few days and got talking to the mother about the Six Nations. She mentioned that she had to miss a few of the games because my brothers GAA club organised training and games at the same time as the rugby.

What's the story with this? Is this to spite the rugby crowd?

Can't people be interested in both? I've heard of GAA clubs organising training at the same time as soccer clubs, to be fair.

They probably weren't aware they had to check with the "rugby crowd" first if they could choose their own training time.

Maybe it's the soccer clubs that are organising training at the same time as the gaa clubs? ;)

Step off the plane in Sydney with your Tipperary jersey on and head straight to the Irish bar to talk to lads you haven't seen for years, who only live two miles from home, about "de champion-chip"

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think the GAA crowd want to keep players in their clubs by making them choose between the proud Irish traditional games and the dirty English forrin games.

Right. It sounds to me like you have a chip on your shoulder about the GAA, for some reason.

Has anyone considered what the urban kite surfers want?

Nobody give a fiddlers about the up and coming urban kitesurfers. You do know that the Irish kitesurfing team won a gold medal at the International Urban Kite Surf Championship of Europe (IUKSCoE).

You people should be ashamed! Tut tut rugby and GAA heads, tut tut indeed.

I heard the GAA are actually behind the clock changing. They do it in hopes the rugby lads will sleep in and miss their training.

I've made a similar thread, the honest answer is that the GAA are afraid of the IRFU and rightfully so. Rugby is getting bigger and bigger over the last few years, helped by Ireland's three 6 6nations championship victories and in my opinion, Munster's Heineken Cup win in '06. People like Robbie Henshaw are influencing the next generation as well as the fact that there's money involved. The GAA are making people sweat over it because they have a "Our sport or no sport" mentality, and of course so people will go to the GAA training and some will go to their rugby.

P.S: If this sounds biast, I might add that I'm just home from Football training, still covered in shıt.

Not really. Just struck me as weird that they'd try to stop young lads watching the game never mind playing it.

I don't follow the GAA until the end, like the majority of people :D hurling is my preference, can't beat Tipp vs Kilkenny. Couldn't give a fiddlers **** about the football though.

hang on, wtf is yer aul dear playing on the same team as your brother for? this is either a spectacularly shíte team or she's fairly good.

either way I'd say the showers are awkward post matches and training

Leave them alone. They haven't much else to do. Sure isn't it the pride of the passion of the village and the udder village sucks.

If she trades into NFL she could be the wide receiver.

    Go team!

Name the GAA club involved and we may get a response on here from somebody involved. Nothing to lose, you're not going to be sued or anything.
I know that my club and many others also deliberately ensured that any GAA training did not clash with the 6 Nations. It would be completely stupid to do any different as some will train, others will stay home and watch the rugby.

Can't speak for games outside of Dublin but underage games in Dublin with the exception of Under 15 and minor are always on Saturdays.

I missed a couple of the 6 nations games myself as a result. Didn't really bother me though. Got to see the England Ireland game on the Sunday the weekend it was played. Got to see the England France game on the last day.

Point being the matches aren't changed on purpose and they continue to be on Saturdays now that the 6 nations is finished
