    Hi all,
    I've recently bought a 09 Superb 2.0tdi 170 DSG Elegance. 96,000miles
Im getting 500 miles to a tank and the MPG reading is telling me im averaging 42 mpg.
This seems pretty hard on diesel to me, or am i over expecting??

I do 50% motorway 50% back road commuting.

Its in for service for Oil, filters, and air filters tomorrow, will this help?

A4 i have is doing the same . About half and half motorway and local driving.
Car will do 60mpg but if you look at the accelerator or drive sporty it drops

I dont feel like i drive it hard at all, my wife potters around in it and its pretty much the same tbh, im blaming the dsg a little and the 18" wheels but thought id easily get 45-48mpg tbh

Big heavy car with a big engine though. You dont even need to drive it hard, just overtaking a few cars, driving with revs over 2krpm. Local trips with the car cold will burn too.
To get the mpg up you need to drive extremely handy(like a granny)

i know the new model of this car is much more efficient.. for a 2009 you are probably about on the number with your figures

If anything it should be more efficient than the equivalent Manual. I think 42 MPG is about right for a 50/50 split, if it was more 75/25 you'd probably return almost 50 MPG.
