Been diagnosed with haemochromatosis (iron overload) after a long wait for genetic test to come back. Now waiting on hospital appointment for venesection.

Been reading up on it and there are lot's of different views on diet. Anyone suffer with this and have advice on what i should and shouldn't be eating?

Also want to know about how long it took for symptoms to go? Suffering from fatigue and heart palpitations as well as thinning hair and painfull joints.

The advice I was given re: diet was this; Don't worry about it. If you spend all your time trying to avoid things with iron in them, you'll only end up leaving yourself short of other nutrients.

Eat away, and keep getting your ferritin levels tested so that you can have a venesection when needed.
