Mains or Battery Clock Radio

Bear with me if this sounds like a dumb question as I'm now officially past my sell by date:D

I'm looking for a clock radio, battery only preferred. But browsing thru argos they all seem to be mains or battery.

My question is this, is the Mains Lead detachable from the unit.

If I understand the question, then I imagine that the mains lead will be detachable.

You would expect an integrated (non detachable) lead in a mains-only device. In the case of either batter or mains I would strongly expect the lead to be detachable. You could post a link to the product in question, that might clarify things.

A large number of these are mains clocks with battery backup, in other words the battery is only there to stop them losing their settings during a power outage and the mains lead is often fixed.

It depends on which one you're looking at.
