    Hi,

I'm starting to get a little into detailing.

I have a Parkside pressure washer.

    http://www.halfords.ie/motoring-travel/cleaning-body-repair/shampoo-polish-wax/demon-wash-snow-foam-shampoo-2l

Would this snow foam shampoo be a good product for washing the car before polishing? Is snow foam type better than normal car wash shampoo? I'm pretty much only going for snow foam shampoo because it looks so cool :D

    I bought:
    Autoglym Super Resin Polish
    Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection
    Autoglym Glass Polish

I plan on getting something for the alloys and tyres today. Not sure exactly what I'll get but I'll have a look. What would you recommend? I saw pictures of some red stuff being sprayed on alloys. Anyone know what it is?

What procedure should I take with the snow foam shampoo? Soak the car in it, then blast it off?

I have polished the car before so that's not my issue. I'd like to perfect the prep work (i.e washing the car).

    Thanks in advance :)

Not used the Demon Shine Snowfoam; Id say its average. But it wont be any use unless you use it through a proper snowfoam lance.
The 3 items you have already purchased will do a good job....quick tip on the Extra Gloss Protection; two thin coats is much better than one coat lashed on. Its difficult to apply thinly as the applicator can get soaked. The best method is to put it into a spray bottle, mist it onto the panel and spread with the applicator. Makes it easier to buff off too.

The 'red stuff' that you have seen for alloys is fallout remover or de-ironiser. It is usually a clear liquid and turns colour on contact with contamination; you wont get that in a regular shop, like Halfords or a motor factors, its a specialised detailing product. CarPro IronX, Orchard Autocare Iron Cleanse, 50Cal DeCon, are the type of products that you need to be looking for. Halfords might have something like it, but it wont be a patch on the others mentioned.

Procedure for the snowfoam is generally to apply it to a dry car, as you will get a better dwell time, but if the car is really dirty, it might be best to give it a quick blast first; though I usually give it a light coat first, so there is something for the dirt to suspend in, wash it down straight away and then apply another coat and let it dwell.

Perfecting the prep work would be looking into it further; de-tar'ing, de-ironising, and claying the paintwork will all contribute to a better appearance! ;)
