    Hi all,

We have a wooden pole just outside our front door which has given way tonight it has been loose for a while. The roof is still intact thank god.

The question I have is if this would typically be covered under home insurance and if so would it be worth claiming for given it woul prob take around 3 - 4 hundred quid to fix?

Sounds as if it is a maintenance issue, which is never covered by insurance. What caused it to come down? Your policy excess is likely to be at least €200 regardless

The answer to both questions is 'no'. Home insurance doesn't cover things that deteriorate over time (you said it was 'loose for a while') so your policy probably won't cover it and even if it did, you seriously do not want to be claiming off your policy for something that small.
