Hi, going anon for this one

I broke up with my bf of almost 2 years about 4 months ago. I broke up with him because I thought it was the right decision. We were always fighting. And i couldnt see us lasting. I thought it would be better too end the relationship sooner rather than later and it being easier for the both of us. I was devasted when i ended it. I was so upset and felt so guilty for hurting someone i cared about.
My ex has since moved on , yet every single thought i have in my head is about him.
And last night i broke down crying.
I really want to move on and be happy with my own life. Any advice? Would really appriciate it. Thanks

Yes, it does get easier. :) But it takes time, and very frequently when we hear the ex has moved on while we are still hurting, its a setback in in the healing process. But a temporary setback which you will get over.

Can you take on something to keep you busy? A sport, a class, or a hobby? I always found keeping busy in the aftermath of a relationship helped a lot.

Completely agree with the above poster - It definitely does get easier!!

Also +1 on the taking up of a hobby.. Try by starting walking, jogging, taking up a fitness class. If your not already doing it exercise is a fantastic way of clearing your head and helping you feel much more positive about yourself.

Also try organise girls nights out more often - you might be allergic to the first one or two, however I definitely found it gave me something to look forward to.

Agree .. im 6 months out of a 5 year relationship and the first response is great advice.. it does get easier, but there is no set amount of time, sometimes it can take a long time. It may help to close your eyes and really remember what it was like in the relationship and the way u felt when the times were bad and felt like ending it.
I find myself looking back and only remembering the good times when in fact there were so many bad times.

I have also started going to the gym, i was never one for it but after 4 months my body is in great condition, it gives me something to take my mind off the bad thoughts and i really feel great after it

Yes it does get easier but like the others have said it does take time and more time than you would like it took me a long time to feel normal again but by keeping myself busy it helped

I'm feeling great now and happy in myself
Be nice and gentle with yourself
