Part time work whilst on jobseekers

    Hi all,

Hoping someone who knows a bit about the welfare system can give me some advice.

I am currently on jobseekers allowance. I'm starting a course in September and have spoken to my welfare office about being switched over to the "back to education allowance" when my course starts and am confident I will be approved.

I'll need to work part time to fully support myself during my course and have been told that there is no problem with me working part time whilst on the "BTA" and in fact there are no restrictions on the amount of hours I can work.

This is all great but the problem is as the course will not start for another 6 months I have been told that I can not work part time while claiming jobseekers allowance.

If I do get a part time job now I will get taken off job seekers and put on a split benifit and this could strongly effect my chances of getting the "back to education allowance"

Does anyone know if this is true or is there anyway around this where I could work part time now without it effecting my chances of getting my BTA when my course starts in September.

Sorry this is a bit long winded, I appreciate any advice you can give me.

    Rocky2100
