Hmm, I did get it in an email - but it just says that the shop has 40% off for the next day.
PM me your email and I'll forward it if that helps. Or try them on twitter/facebook they are very responsive

I got it through the email newsletter, maybe that's how the discount is applied?

for me the discount was applied once I got to the checkout page, scroll down the bottom and I saw a discount code was automatically added.

Thanks OP, discount did not show on my order until I signed up for the 10% discount code on the home page and when I returned to the site after receiving that email the 40% off code was automaticaly applied.

Sugru is fantastic stuff but they bumped the price last year when I thought they should be going the other way.

If I didn't have some in the fridge already I'd be stocking up.

Does it lose its properties after you've opened the sachet or can you stick it back in the fridge to use another day?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,810 ✭✭✭✭jimmii

Been meaning to get some of this for a while!

No you've pretty much got to use it within 30 mins or so. I don't usually open one unless I need a whole one or can do a few jobs at once.

Yeah you'll see a discount code at the bottom of the page. It's invalid until you set up an account and log in.

Yeah it's not cheap but its worth its weight in gold for the times I have used it. Sorta magic stuff that nothing else can do the same. It only last 12 months even in the packet. So that's why they say keep it in the fridge as it triples its time. Annoying you cant leave it in the toolbox for years though.

I'm surprised it's not in Woodies etc. I think you can get it in B&Q but there is none near me. They have got into a load of the big US chains now so focusing on the international market.

I used it to stick a mobile phone holder to my dash. Sure can be removed with no trace, y9y can just cut it off and rub away the remnants.

    You need some imagination.

I've been itching to get this stuff since I first heard about it. But, I was in a Radioshack recently and they have stuff called "U mold plastic" that works nearly identical.

You get 0.5KG for $10 and it doesn't expire, you just drop pellets into boiling water and after a minute you can press them together and mold it into any shape you want. When it sets (around 5 mins later) it's rock solid. You can't dig a fingernail into it, but if you want to adjust, either drop back into boiling water or use a heat gun / hair dryer.

It's white by default, but they also sell colouring pellets to change it up. Although I imagine food/clothes dye would work too.

Just another option to look at..

If anyone has a spare sachet, preferably black, I'll collect and pay pro-rata. Please PM me if it suits you. Want to try fixing a cracked phone screen.

TBH, I think you could be wasting your time here. Sugru isn't great when used in very small amounts, or spread thinly.

What phone is it? You can buy glass kits for a lot of smartphones for about a tenner on eBay.

Think the 40% off is over. Looking on their facebook page it seemed to have ended at midnight PST on 31 march, which was 7am this morning.

I'm not sure I want a multi coloured pack from amazon.

You could mix them all together and make brown. :pac:

This stuff better work. Have a few small things to fix where super glue was useless. Ordered off the main website with 10% off. The 40% offer is over.

Well, I picked mine up in one located in Bahrain. I hadn't a lick of space left in my luggage for more.

But, having looked into it, it's also called "polymorph" and sold by Maplin :

    150G @ £5 : http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/150g-polymorph-n58ch

    250G @ £15 : http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/250g-polymorph-n14at

Only thing about that is it wont last in heat. Some of the places I have used Sugru get a lot of heat so this might not work. Still good to know about for other jobs!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭Wez

You do need the water to be quite close to boiling for it to be mold-able again, I left the kettle for a few minutes before trying it the first time and was wondering why it never changed form (although it was still quite hot). But, it's something to bear in mind..

I'm going to try drilling + sanding + maybe tapping/threading it when I'm back in town.

Missed it in the description the first time, but it says 62°C is the melting point.

    £5 for 150g, £15 for 250g?

    BARGAIN.
