    Lads,

Looking to replace the TechniColour tc7200.U modem I received with new UP setup.

I get 30 Mb on WiFi when I am 3 ft. away, but when cabled in, get the 120Mb.

Any ideas on the best WiFi modem on the market fpr UPC broadband? Thanks in advance

I'm using the Archer C7 as recommended in the "Getting the most out of your UPC broadband" thread - My Android app reports 150Mbps on the 120Mbps connection - it drops off to about 35Mbps on 2.4GHz at the furthest point in the house

You can't replace replace the actual cable modem from UPC as they will only allow devices supplied by them to connect to their network.

But it is possible to bridge the modem and add your own wireless router.

Its a provisioned service. The CMTS (other end of the cable) and modem do a handshake on link up. A MAC spoof might get you past that, depends on how much validation is done. Havent seen anyone post having got it to work here.

I could see why. They cost a lot in Europe, there is no market for them. And there doesn't seem to be any commercial models that let you change MAC on the cable end without some serious reprogramming.
