Are they the ones that you remove the core and add the extension then replace the core or are they the ones that are basically just an extension tube and you leave the core open on the original valve?

If the latter I find they usually build up pressure in the gap between to of tube and open valve holds for a second then releases so you can pump away to desired pressure.

What exactly is the problem you're having anyway? Not holding pressure? Inflating?

seems i'm losing all the pressure and inflation unless held in a very precise way. certainly cannot tell the exact pressure. feels like i'm pushing air only

Might the o ring in your track pump be gone?

Well that ain't the issue so.

It must be something to do with the valve core did you remove them and put then back yourself. The non return valve might be stuck did you try pushing the valve head up and down a few times to make sure it moves easily.

i've tried a few things. the valve extender i have slips over the valve with ease and is locked in position. on both wheels. the pump head fits firmly and pefectly around the open end of the extender without any loss of air. but when it pumps all i get is a free air push (whoosh) and of course nothing is going in.

Bummer if no air is going in then there's definitely a leak somewhere and if air is coming out that easily its a big one. Trying to avoid asking a stupid question but you are pushing that little handle up on the track pump :D

I don't have much experience with tubs but I assume the valve parts is similar to that on a tube. Are you sure the core of the valve is in right?

lol, i'm doing it right - i am pumping it but i'm not getting the required pressure to let me know how much pressure is going in there - some is going in but a lot is escaping. and it's locked in tight. anyway, they're hard right now and hopefully will stay so overnight

you need to be specific what extenders you are using.
There are two types of Vittorria extenders.
One comes with the core already in place and is very tube specific ie not many.
The other one you need to remove the core form the tube screw the core tightly into the extender the screw the extender into the tube.
Make sure you use plenty of plumbers sealing tape between the extender the main valve. If its not sealed air under pressure will just find its way out.
