    I think i have a stuck valve?
I have a gas boiler and 2 heating zones.
In the hot press i have 2 electric valves close together near the bottom of the cylinder and another one near the top of the cylinder,if this one is stuck would it cause the water not to heat?Im thinking of removing the valve motor and turning the shaft manually.I know i need a plumber but it will have to wait til payday!

Open the hw valve manually to allow the cylinder to heat, temporary solution.

    Thanks for the reply.
That would be the one near the top of the cylinder?
Im thinking the two close together ones are probably connected to the room stats?

Would it usually be the motor just gives up or does the mechanical part seize in them?

The valve has a black slide switch on it with auto and manual on it.Its currently set to auto.Im wondering does it have 3 positions like auto-closed-open. or would i be better off screwing off the motor and turning the shaft by hand?

It could be a tank stat problem if fitted, time clock may be to blame. More than likely the mv is at fault.

Yes there is a tank stat fitted.
Shows my ignorance,i thought that was for the immersion side of things!
I think its set around 50c would that be right? My 6 year old may well have been at it!
The time clock was replaced in november because the timer gave up the ghost.
