in-call volume on an iphone 5s is very low all of a sudden. No apparent reason why - it was on 8.1 so i updated to 8.2 but no change.

does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

(It's still in warranty if that makes a difference)

I'm not being condescending here but have you tried turning the volume up using the volume controls on the side of the phone? Bear in mind you have to actually be in a call at the time for changes to take effect. Try dialling 1901 or 1908 & when you reach the automated announcements turn the volume at the side up to it's highest.

You could also go into General -> Restrictions -> Volume Limit & make sure that Allow Changes is ticked.

thanks cushie, I've tried all the usual things - I didn't know about the volume limit so will check that. I suspect it's a problem with the hardware receiver - it's hard to describe but as well as the low volume, there's also a distortion to the sound that comes and goes.
