Any good running routes down in Youghal. Looking for around 10k mark. Staying at the youghal holiday homes at the quality hotel.

    Thanks

I normally holiday in Youghal in July/August. Lovely part of the country.

The Quality hotel is outside the town itself, so there is roads on its doorstep, albeit your typical country roads that will require caution. Its about a mile or just over from hotel to the main Youghal/Cork road, this is a decent road for running on, wide and a good hard shoulder.

You also have the beach itself which I often ran on. Its miles and miles long and was great for running. You could run from Hotel towards the town and back on the roads or other way about. Easily 10km depending on when you rejoin the roads.

If you drove into the town itself and parked by the swimming pool, you could run from one end of the town to the other and back. The town is basically split in two, the old town (main area for shops/businesses etc) and the beach end of the town. Its a relatively flat run, very long and as its mainly a one way system, you can loop round and get 10km in.

You fancy a few hills, no better spot. Some great roads for hill repeats, head up towards the Golf club and you'll be'll on them straight away.

The main town and roads are very flat but head up and you'll find some serious hills.

    Enjoy/

Plenty of nice quiet country roads to the west in places like Gortroe

Just avoid the R633 and the rest are quiet and pretty flat. Use MapMyRun and you can probably get a few nice loops in there.
