Anyone have and good drills for fixing an over the top swing. Mine is mainly caused by my take away being on the inside, leaving myself with very little room on downswing.

    Joking .

Long - long term sufferer - to a degree , most pros don't think I'll ever be cured.

My divots are a form of earth damage. Deep - more deep and left.

Just try getting out and wide in one piece as early as possible at start - I'll post image.

Wide but connected - is the way to great golf.

The more modern the teaching the wider the clubhead - but stay connected - use a towel at arms.

Then drop inside and boom - enjoy your first draws ever - job done (lol)

Are you going to a pro shauna.

I did this with the nets at range ( slow swing)

Looked like a nut bag hitting walls/nets - but make sure you don't hit net - wall prior to impact.

Hard to explain - but this gives idea.

Just make sure it is OTT - and why.

I'd give anything now - to go back 10 years and try fix it with me.

Are you sure it's caused by an inside takeaway? There's many reasons for over the top. Quite often it's a lower body issue in the downswing.

I use the pump drill like in this video here have a look at his right elbow as that needs to stay connected otherwise you'll still be over the top.

If you know what's causing it just don't take it inside anymore and you should be cured.

Another sufferer of the dreaded OTT here. Been to three pros now. First had me working on taking the club straight back, then the second had me taking it back inside and trying to swing out through the ball.

Must have over done this as first lesson with current pro and he said I was way inside the line on the way back. I could hit a draw but this was due to being miles inside on the way back and just inside on the way through, so still an ott of sorts.

He put me standing with a wall about 18 inches behind my heel and I'd hit it almost immediately on the takeaway. My problem was not hinging my wrists leading to a bowed position at the top with only one way down: OTT. Can't say if this is your issue obviously without seeing you swing but everyone has a wall, so it's a good drill to stop you going back too far inside especially if you don't want to wreck your clubs. I've given my pw a bit of a battering and even took a lump out of the wall at one stage :pac:

I think it works but it hasn't been translated into my scoring just yet :)

Haven't responded to Fix's thread yet but it would definitely be get lessons!! Good luck with it :)

Simple one to start; place another ball behind the clubhead, and drive this ball straight back along the target line with your takeaway.

Use 2 sticks stuck into the ground behind you, angled to create a 'slot' for the correct path.

Thanks for all ye're help lads. Just back from range and can see a bit improvement already.

Started off with pump drill just to get used to to the feeling of where club should be and what not on downswing, similiar to following video

Then I done what Whizbang suggested and placed a ball behind my ball and pushed it straight back on my takeaway.

Next I used allignment sticks to help me visualise correct plane and both back swing and downswing.

Finally I just hit golf balls and out of the 20 I hit i'd say about 15 were straight and long maybe 5yards of target line max. Considering I've had a dose of the shanks, slices and hooks for last 2 weeks this is a huge improvement. Looking forward to going and trying it out on the course cause the mats in the driving range are very forgiving!

I love the push the ball back trick, I find it helps control speed as well as swing plane. Also try it in the sand to feel the pressure on the core.

Its good to see tips working, but I'm always amazed at how many folk seem to fixate on one, and are appalled when it doesn't work.
More often than not a particular tip just doesn't do it for you. So skip to the next one and try that.
