New Car Insurance Question

Just wondering if someone might know...

I bought a new car which is due for delivery in a couple of weeks. I rang around insurance companies got a few decent quotes and plan on going with one particular insurer when it arrives.

Thing is I'm using a siblings car at the moment as a named driver. Have been for over two years.

I think the normal thing most people wouldo do is transfer your insurance. But I'm fairly certain I can't do that as the new car will be in my name.

Will I just have to go through the process of getting a new policy there and then on collection day?

You can choose when your policy starts, you don't have to do it on the day

If you are currently a named driver on someone else's insurance policy then you cannot transfer that policy as that policy is not in your name. You will need a new policy of your own to cover the new car.

One you know when the new car is ready to be collected you can arrange with your insurance company for the policy to start from that day.
