I received one of these in the post yesterday,as I live in Dublin I need to bring it into o connell st to get a photo id.The questions I have are 1. is this a sameday service,IE do I walk in get the photo done and walk out with the card or is it mailed out at a later date? And 2.if the latter is the case is the cardboard pass valid without the CIE photo id until its mailed to my address?
Note,as it stands,at the moment I don't have ANY form of photo Id at the moment,as I recently lost my passport and have never held a drivers licence. Will a utility bill,a social welfare receipt and the letters I received with the pass suffice as proof of identity?

It's a same day service, but you do need to bring identification with you when you go in.

Get passport photos and a utility bill witnessed by a member of An Gardai. You could also bring the Garda report of your lost passport (you must report lost passports)

Ultimately, ring them and explain exactly as you explained there, but I hope that's of some help. Best wishes.

Cheers for that myshirt :) I'm also wondering,is the current cardboard one I received valid for travel straight away,or is it useless without the photo ID?

It's valid straight away but you have a certain amount of time to get your photo Id.
Some Bus drivers have refused them without an ID.
Others will look at them an not say a word

If it's a Social Welfare free travel pass, you can get it without photo ID. You need to bring about four items with your name on it, like a bank card, Social Services Card, Medical card etc. You'd then go for an interview and if they are satisfied, they will post the new green bus pass (Public Services Card) to you.

That's a invite only situation they contact you and ask you to come into them.
You don't just go and get one unless your specificly asked to

I know that. I wasn't sure it that's what he's on about. You can make an appointment and get it sorted though.

You can't make an appointment to get a new PSC. You just can't. You have to take the old free travel pass if that's what they issue you with and wait to he invited by post to get the new PSC.

If OP had received a plastic PSCFT card in the post his photo would already be on the card so wouldn't have to visit Dublin Bus in O'Connell St for a photo ID card for the cardboard Free Travel Pass that he mentions.

The SAFE registration process for the PSCFT is handled exclusively by DSP offices. Dublin Bus/CIE are not involved.

You can. I done it while I was in college so I'd have it done in time for my fresh dole claim. I went into the dole office and they gave me an appointment for the following week.

But that's not for the ftp (free travel pass) that's been done in limited batches less than 2500 have been issued the new style plastic card out of a few hundred thousand
