GHD Hair-straightener Ryanair Hand Baggage

Hi all, just a quick question about any restrictions with Ryanair's hand baggage. I'm planning on bringing my GHDs in my bag (no checked bag) and I'm just a bit worried that they could be taken at security. I've looked at the website & Dublin Airport's site & can't see anything but they're not exactly cheap so I'm hoping to get a definitive answer!

So, does anyone know if I'll be ok to bring them in my hand baggage?

Also I've already searched the forum & the only relevant threads were a few years old, so I was hoping for some up-to-date answers, if anyone has them.

@Ryanair: @efbman Hello, we're ok with it. However, it always depends on airport security as well. IK

Oh thanks so much efb, I never even thought of asking them there! I've brought through phone chargers before (so items with plugs) and I've never had a problem so hopefully it's not an issue.

GHDs should be fine, I wouldn't see any potential issue/ danger there.

You're allowed cigarette lighters on flights, and potentially- and I mean potentially in the most highly unlikely case- that could be used to start something dangerous.

So a GHD, I don't see how it would cause any issues.

Here's a list from the UK of what you can/cannot take in hand luggage, I presume its basically the same as you'd be getting on flights to the rest of world/europe etc and I'd say within the EU regulations are essentially all the same:

    http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/dangerous-and-restricted-items-what-you-cannot-take-on-board-a-flight

GHds are listed as fine if you scroll down to electrical items, as are umbrellas, scissors shorter than 6cm etc etc.

sorry I couldn't find an Irish version.

That's great Get Real, thank you! I'm flying to Edinburgh so within the UK so at least I know for definite that I'll be ok on the way back. :)

Sorry for the double post but just an update for anyone wondering, they went through in my hand baggage with no problems at all. :)

What you can and can not bring on board is down to the airport and specifically the security people they employ, not the airline so there's no point in asking Ryanair, they could tell you anything and the security people at the airport could decide otherwise in which case showing them a tweet would be pointless.

In fairness to them, they did qualify their response .....

    The rules are outlined here.....

I know the OP has come back and said it was grand - just adding I've travelled to about 5 or 6 different countries with my straightener in my hand luggage and never had any issues :)

GHD's are fine I can 100% confirm that.
