Buying 2nd hand PS4 with games preinstalled without discs

    Hi All,

I have the offer of buying a 2nd hand PS4 with a lot of good games bought from PS network - no discs.

Is this a safe bet to buy? I am told if I create a new profile on the machine with PS network (with my credit card details attached etc.), and to keep the original owners account intact, I can still play these pre-installed games on my account without issue

Is this safe to go with? Looking for a quick sale so any feedback soon would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

The games are still controlled by the account owner, nothing to stop him remotely deactivating his account on the system to use those games else where.

Wouldnt pay any extra for them.

+1 clearly a scam if he thinks his games add more to the value.. There's nothing you can do then if he changes password and deactivates account.

From seller just now - thoughts?

Hi, thanks for asking and I have to say that there are no pro player answers in that question...

    PSN digital games have two-types:
    Primary Game and No-primary game

Primary game -- download by my account -- Can be played and earned Cups by any accounts on This console.
No-primary (Customer ?) -- download by my account -- Can be played only by my account

All 10 Games are primary games, which means 10 games binding with console, not account. No matter I changed password or not, they still working.

    Easy word is:
Delete games or my accounts on console, games gone.
It has no relationship with account password.

    From PS Support page http://faq.en.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6805/~/device-deactivation
How do I deactivate a device if I do not have access to it?

You can use a PC, Mac or mobile device connected to the internet to remotely deactivate Game content on all of your PlayStation systems at once. This is helpful if you no longer have access to your PlayStation system to deactivate it.

You can reach Account Management in a number of ways:

    PlayStation®App
Tap Image [PlayStation®Store] on the home screen and go to Image [Online ID] > [Account Settings].

    PlayStation®Store
Go to PlayStation®Store. Sign in, go to your Online ID at the top of the page and click [Account Settings].

    Account Management website
Click here and sign in for the account management site.

Sign in to the Account Management website with your PSN℠ details.
Go to the Account tab and select [Media and Devices].
Next to Image (Game) click [Deactivate All].
Select 'Yes' when you are asked if you want to continue.
All of your devices are now deactivated for Game content.
You can only perform this deactivation once every 6 months, so please deactivate your PlayStation systems using one of the methods above if possible.

If this does not immediately deactivate your system and you find you still cannot make your purchase shut your system down and restart it. This will usually correct the issue.

If you do not have access to PC, Mac or mobile device connected to the internet or if you need to remotely deactivate your devices for Video please contact us for further assistance.

I don't know about this primary game and no-primary game business. I guess he means primary and secondary accounts on the system but as you can see from the above, he can deactivate the games from your console whenever he wants.

while changing the password itself won't remove the games he can deactivate his account remolty to use those games elsewhere and since the password is changed you won't be able to reactivate the PS4 with his account.

    He's talking ****e. End of.

Don't buy for more money just because of the games. They're not attached to the console. All on his account (which he can deactivate anytime)

And with him trying to talk you into it and bull shifting, I'd steer well clear for that reason. Either very confused on how the PS store and games work or very deceptive.

From seller below - He's fairly adamant that unless I delete thee games they will not be removed by any other means..

Games binding with console not accounts, no matter accounts change password, deactivate or something else... Just don't delete them, that's all~

Like everybody else has said, he's talking out of his hoop. Games you buy are tied to your account. Your account needs to be activated on your console for you to be able to download and play those games. If the account is deactivated, any games tied to that account will no longer be available to you to play.

Ok - Just want to thank everyone for their feedback. I'm going to pass on it.

I would say though that the guy did seem like a decent sort. Shame...

Beyond the likes of adverts, where is a good spot to buy a solid 2nd hand PS4? - Looking to source Bloodbourne.

He might actually believe what he's saying himself, he's just completely misinformed. Glad to see you're staying away from it…

You can get the console new with Bloodborne and The Order thrown in for €400 in Argos at the moment if that appealed to you. Might be the better option than going for a second hand console.

Guy on adverts leaves me NEGATIVE FEEDBACK on me pulling for the sale!

Saying if I can come up with evidence of what everyone here has suggested he will remove it! Can anyone assist me with official data? I have a negative comment on Adverts now about this

You trust those guys on board.ie and not trust me, then please send email to Sony. If they are right, I will remove negative feedback. If I am wrong, please leave negative feedback to me

    This explains Sony's DRM.

    And this…
If you want to share downloads with family and friends and you don't want them to sign in with your account everytime to use it, you have to make their PS4 the primary system for your account.

Sorry, but this this side with the thinking here that the origional account holder can remove games when a system moves away from him?

So much for him being a decent guy! Can you not contact the adverts admins, point them to this thread and get them to remove the negative comment?

EDIT - Adverts has come to the rescue and removed the negative comment - thanks again all!

I'm not sure what you're trying to say but they only way you can play those games without needing his password and signing in with his account is if the console you buy is the primary console on his account. Once he deactivates that console, you will no longer be able to play those games unless you have his username, account details AND password and set up an account for him on your PS 4. The games are tied to the account not the console. Does that make it any clearer?
