I'm thinking of buying an estate second hand one of these as a "box on wheels" that I don't have to worry about getting scratched or dented or spend huge money on.Being maried now for nearly 2 years I need to get something more practical than my 2 seater Merc. I have a mk1 Toyota Mr2 in the garage for weekend fun so just wondering if anyone has any experience of these? Its a 2006 1.6 Sx Estate I'm looking at. I know the engine is the same family as Opels. Every other car I've had I would constantly worry about in car parks which really is really not ideal if kids come along. Any advice would be helpful.

There are not many situations where a corolla estate would be a better option, but this is one of them. Or a focus estate. Both of these are fairly cheap and easy to find.

I remember being in a few of those lacettis and it's not the feeling of poor quality materials but just general poor build quality and flimsyness that gets you. One of these could easily turn into a money pit if you don't maintain it.

Some similarly priced alternatives could take punishment a lot harder.
