VW Golf (09 TDI) - 'oil sensor garage'

I just got my car serviced in advance of the NCT but am getting the following warning light on my dashboard:

    'Oil sensor garage'

Any ideas of how I can turn this off in advance of the NCT this weekend - or will this affect the NCT?

I'm working a long day tomorrow so won't have time to get back to the garage I used for the service. While they are not a VW garage they are reputable so I'm confident that oil level etc is ok.

    Thanks for your help

Better work a short day and get it fixed. Failing that cancel the NCT as they will not test it with that fault showing.

Ok - so a visit to garage is only option.....I'll have to defer the test, thanks

Did you check the oil level?

Try opening and closing the bonnet to reset the alarm.

Deferring the test at this stage is pointless as you will incur a €22 cancellation fee. So add that to the €55 and your total spend is €77.

However if you bring the car in for the NCT, most testers will use some common sense, dip the engine for oil and carry out the test as normal.

The worst case scenario is that they will refuse to do the emissions test but will carry out the rest of the test, so you will have to pay €55 plus €28 for the retest, which is €83.

If the oil level is correct and there's no obvious indication that there's something wrong, the car will be tested.

A long shot, but check the bonnet switch. I had this issue previously with a Transporter and the bonnet switch had failed, so it didn't know I had checked the fluids.
