Hi does anybody know what kinda mpg a 01 1.25 fiesta would do?

And roughly how many miles would you except out 40 euros on a long run

Do they use much more once you get over 60mph+ like moter way speeds

Also any common porblem a with them?

    Thanks

My sister had one of these cars. Great car and was also good on fuel. She use to drive Tipperary - Limerick for 4 years, and Tipperary - Dublin for 1 year. Never had a bother with it. It was serviced regularly and nothing major ever went wrong with it!
    I would definitely recommend it.

Rust rust rust. About 99.9% of them are rotten around the sills at this stage. Only very clean examples will have escaped this far. Nice little car otherwise though!

Oh yes, thats another issue. We bought the car from a guy who is into car repairs and he has sorted out the rust on it previously (only a very small patch under the drivers door). But any others I have come across are riddled in rust. Great car apart from that.

If you are buying, check thoroughly for rust. Although most of it would be visible from the outside.

Why do they rust so easy?

Poor corrosion protection. The Puma and Ka were the same.

Thinking of a 02-08 model for my nephew, as he doesn't like the yaris.good to know these dont suffer rust to the same extent.

Can anybody answer my other questions about the mpg and what there like around motorway speed or are they happier at below that ?:)

It should be ok for motorway trips but don't expect miracles of fuel economy at 70 mph compared to doing 30 or 40 mph. Just remember that this is a small car which was not designed to be a motorway mile muncher. A 2001 Fiesta wasn't much different to the model that was launched back in 1989 so it was more designed for city driving than long stints on the motorway.

Ok I've had one for just under two years, a 2000 so exactly the same as the '01. My average from commuting down the N11 was 43.3 mpg or 6.5 litres per 100km. When I switched almost exclusively to town driving it dropped to 31.6 mpg or 9 litres per 100km. It doesn't destroy the mpg to go over 100 km/h but it will bring it a bit closer to 40 than 50 mpg. Best I ever achieved was 48 mpg. All my calculations are based on filling the tank, resetting trip meter and filling again so they're pretty acurate and I've covered 24k km since I got it so those figures are based on 51 tanks.
