The steam version has some updates that improve it. It now works on windows 8.1 and the graphics and performance have been improved. For the money you cant go wrong.

Yeah it's kinda weird timing but I've always wanted a copy so bought it and downloaded last night. Gonna pick up an X-Box controller for PC or something as I've heard it can be played with that rather than splash out on an expensive stick. From the brief look I had at the promo video am I right in saying there's a multi-player world with air traffic control etc?

Indeed, MS Flight was very 'arcade' and not a serious flight simulator. This is.

By the way, Flight Simulator X has been discontinued by Microsoft, however it has been purchased by Lockheed (Prepar3D) a few years ago, who have adapted it for the more serious market (flight training) while DoveTail Games has bought the rights to the original for the consumer market only. This latter version is the one that is now on Steam.

By the way, Flight Simulator X has been discontinued by Microsoft, however it has been purchased by Lockheed (Prepar3D) a few years ago, who have adapted it for the more serious market (flight training).

The Prepar3D with PMDG aircraft and AOA videos is an amazing package. I'm presently doing a type rating and use this for reference, so far we haven't found any errors with it and the graphics are great!
