commission merchandising no basic salary worth while?

I have recently been offered a job for merchandising. there's pro's and con's to it. basically there's no basic salary, no set hours once i meet the target within the time period they don't care what times I start or finish,they cover petrol expenses also. is it possible to make a decent wage at this sort of job? what way…
