Hi. I am thinking of getting a Malone splitter to run off a 135. Does anyone use this combination? I am worried the flow rate at low revs will make it too slow or impracticable. I know I could add a pump but want to keep it simple if I can.

It be fierce slow. Had one one on a 65 and it was tedious to say the least

How slow would it be? Most of the logs would be 8 or 9 inches so I'm guessing 5 inches of travel for the ram. It'd be the old man mainly using it so speed would not be that important. Should be easier than a maul I reckon

Don't know about Malone ram size but we use ours just about 1500rpm and fast enough. Have dual pump tractor ticking over. Too much speed and u might be looking for ur fingers. Know 4 ppl now who have damaged their hands on these yokes.

To run a tractor/any engine at tick over or just above it for extended periods is not recommended.....
I always when on a splitter have it at half revs

You want a 100hp tractor minimum to drive them malone splitters.

hp should not matter. U can Add a 2nd pump to a 135 or even just add a pro driven pump and plenty of speed then.
