Have a look at your diet - last time I had a dry, itchy scalp my diet was crap, iron levels low etc - I changed my diet, drank lots of water and took a multivitamin with iron and it improved.
Watch what you're using on it too - perfumed shampoos and products are not your friend, try something milder like baby shampoo and lay off the products; if this doesn't work you could try a specialist shampoo for dry scalp (not anti-dandruff, these ones can be pretty harsh).
Dry scalp can be linked to stress also believe it or not :)

Hydration is key here. I got an awful dose of it after a weekend on the lash and staying in a warm hotel room with dry air. Alcohol is a powerful drying agent so beware of thay. Also, medicated shampoo can help. I just used T gel and while it took a good few days to take effect, it got the job done. I wouldn't wash the car with some of the other anti dandruff shampoos tbh.

Central heating wreaks havoc with my hair and scalp. In days of old when I went out most weekends I'd have dry itchy scalp the following week so slcohol definitely affects it.

I've recently started massaging coconut oil into my scalp the night before I was my hair and I've found it's helped a lot.

Another thing to consider is SLSs in shampoos. They can aggravate the scalp so buying an SLS free shampoo may help.

I'd second both the use of SLS free products & rubbing coconut oil on your scalp :)

Sodium lauryl sulfate - it's found in shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, body creams as well as lots of cosmetics. It can really aggravate your scalp if it has a tendency to be dry.
