You won't get the cert until you produce the vrc.
You can still put it through the test tho...

They never ask for the cert in fonthill in my experience. I was there a few weeks ago and had my cert but she said she just needed my licence

    Thanks guys.

Thought I had it with the other car documents but cant seem to find this. I have spent an hour looking for it as my NCT is up early April and the new VRC can take upto 2 weeks to arrive.

I got my car tested yesterday and have everything else in order. Will have another look for it in the morning but for now I guess its 50/50?

Did anyone else get it done recently and were you asked for vrc?

Depends on the tester and the centre. As above I was in fonthill on Saturday and they didn't ask to see anything. Tested just asked me to verbally confirm the address then handed me the cert and that was it. Some beside me asked to see the receipt, most just asked to confirm address.

    Cheers for that.

I am very sure that on their system , the car is registered under my name as when I rang to get an appointment, they asked me for the Reg and called out the address to me to confirm and that's it.

So I dont really see the need for VRC when I have a photo ID with me and they already have me as the registered owner on the system. I only got the car last April second hand.

Really hopeful that I get a tester who doesn't ask for it.

If they ask tell them it is lost and you wait for a replacement.

They are very strict on ID so make sure to have driving license with you.

They only asked me once in last 3-4 years, and it wasn't a problem anyway.

Of the last 3 NCT's I have done I have been asked for VLC once.

I actually booked my test under the name 'The Real IRA', and not an eyelid was batt. They did not ask for my VRC cert, though I do think you do need it, they are asking, but likely it differs center to center. To be on the safe side, ensure you bring it.
