Rough Cost of Painting a large house

I am about to commence the process of purchasing a 4500 Sq Ft house (ober excited!!) and although it is a fantastic design, the interior paint colours are not to my taste. I would like to repaint the entire inside of the house and am wondering if anyone can advise on what to expect cost wise? So including enough paint for two coats in each room and the cost of a painter, how much roughly does anyone think it would cost AND how long could I expect it to take? I am in Westmeath.

How many doors? Frames etc? All woodwork as well? Ceilings will more than likely have to be done or as you said is it just the walls? Are walls standard height?

Also very hard to give a price without actually looking at entire house, walls may need filling with usual cracks.

Off then top of my hat you could be looking at 4/5k if your going through a registered painting contractor. It may take 2/3 weeks depending on how many men are available.

    Get at least 3 prices.

Hi Mad M, its just the walls really as the ceilings appear fine as is the coving. Not doing doors as they are really good oak doors and skirting. Its 6 bedrooms, kitchen / dining / sunroom, large sitting room, office, 3 ensuites, utility room and an expansive stairway which is double height. 9 ft ceilings I think!

You may be lucky as before you move in, the house will have no furniture in it and it will be a straight run for the painter. Your best bet is to look up a local painter and see will he do work on a weekly basis or ask Him for a price for whole job.

The less covering up and moving furniture will work to your advantage plus the painters also, so keep that in mind.

Skirtings will have to be masked up so that can take Up a half a day in its self.

Hard to tell with out seeing, but I'd imagine in the 5euro per sq meter realm for a reputable company. Prep, two coats of paint, warranty provided, and professional service.

As for timeframe, maybe 5 days.
