JobBridge/FIS Supplement

Hi, My partner is started a new job on Monday, She was told that is is on the Jobbridge Scheme. €50 extra on top of the payment she was receiving for unemployment benefit. We have 3 very young children and the reason she wanted a job was so that we would benefit from the extra income that the FIS supplement would bring. on the FIS scheme she can earn up to €703 and whatever the difference between her wages is and the €703 she will be given 60% of that amount. All in all she was expecting to get around €580 each week with the FIS payment as this was the case when she worked in another job last year. ...... But now with the JobBridge scheme it seems like she will have to make do with just €50 on top of her unemployment benefit and this is way below the €580 that we need.

After all that info my question is .... Can she apply for the FIS payment or not? Guy in Social welfare dismissed it and said she should come back another day and see what she can apply for but that FIS was something she couldn't apply for. If she really cannot apply for it then what other help can she get? I cannot claim anything and rent allowance is also a no for us.

    Thank you for any advice

FIS is a support for people in paid employment. In order to be eligible, she will need to be working at least 17 hours a week in a paid role.

There are no other payments as he is still effectively on a job seekers payment.

Jobbridge is an internship not a paid job.

I get that about the FIS payment and the intern stuff, It is a 39 hour work week she is doing. This jobbridge scheme doesn't help at all. Why go back to work when she can receive pretty much the same amount for sitting at home? €50 extra each week is not going to pay for creche fees while she is in work as it costs €110 per week to have the kids looked after. This works out that we are worse off with her working then if she was sitting at home.

So again is there any extra payment from the government that can help us out? We cannot afford to have her as an intern for 6 months.

As far as I know there is nothing extra.
If she was working she could get back to work family dividend and fis.

The only thing in the jobbridge is that she's getting training and 6 months on her CV.
    Maybe try a CE scheme.

Are you working OP, can you claim FIS?

If he is entitled, the IQA on the partners claim will be removed and all her total income while on the scheme will be accessible as income for the purpose of the FIS calculation.

I'd say OP has no active claim, and is just down as IQA on her claim ( based on her disclosed earning combined with FIS last year )

But then there wouldn't be childcare costs?
