If this is in the wrong spot or not allowed Mods remove but just an invite to anybody if they want a free round of pitch and putt. This Saturday March 28th Loughlinstown Pitch and Putt, opposite Loughlinstown hospital on the Commons Road, Loughlinstown, Co.Dublin are hosting a free open day between the hours of 11am and 6pm. All are welcome including societies(cards, balls, tees, clubs provided if needed) and the general public. Any Under 18's must play with a parent or guardian and only players aged 8+ can play on the course. Not sure if it is of any use to you guys but more than welcome to try the course out. ;)

Grew up in Shankill and passed this by on a daily basis. For an area that has changed so much over the last 20+ years since the M11 went in and everything that came after, I'm surprised it's still there, but think it's great that this little spot has kept it's pride of place

Well we are struggling at the moment with the neglect of the juveniles section so hopefully this open day on Saturday might change that. As a P&P course its very hard competing with Golf and the many other more accesible sports of this day and age.

46yrs their now the course is!

46 years.. WOW. I'm 38 and meant to say earlier on, that I don't remember it not being there... easy to see why now! It must be one of the oldest P&P courses in the country.

I don't live around there anymore but family do, so I still pass it by a every so often. It really is surprising that there weren't a few houses/apartments thrown up there about 10 years ago, because it's a bit of prime real estate. Of course I'm delighted that never happened and I hope it never does.

Best of luck for Saturday and I hope you get a few new people to join up. I won't be able to make it unfortunately. Must be 25 years since I played it.

Thanks Seve its something we need. I think there is a lease on the land so dont think anything can be built on it for a few years yet. The whole bottom of the course was relayed for the new houses along the commons rd around 10yrs ago but other than that the course has pretty much been the same.

A lot of the same members still here too. There are a lot more courses around older than ourselves especially in the Munster region.
