How to get chain oil off skin?

I have chain oil (in a perfectly shaped imprint of the chain itself!) on the back of my right leg since doing a long cycle last Saturday. I showered straight after my cycle and scrubbed it. I've scrubbed it in the shower every day since and it's still there albeit faded.

For future reference what's the best way to get chain oil off my skin if it happens to get on it again?

Washing powder. The kind you put in a washing machine I mean.

    Washing up liquid and sugar.

I use this technique, works well. The sugar helps scrub the oil off.

I've been desperate and I have used the green side of the kitchen sponge when nobody has been looking, It does a savage job, but it scratches a bit

    Feck all that crap above.

Baby Wipes, They take anything off anything and are clean and easy.

For future reference, wipe the sides/outside of the chain with a cloth after lubricating it. The lubricant only needs to be on the inside of the the chain (i.e. the side which makes contact with the cassette/chain rings).

I always use butter to get oil off. Then regular soap to get the butter off.

Skin graft is your only man for that particular job..

Next time that it happens just hightail it to the nearest tattoo parlor, stoppie through the door and, pointing to the chain mark on your muscular calve, yell "Ink me up Bro!"

This is a bit harsh but works: GT85, rub it a bit then use washing up liquid.

Little bit of white spirit or wd40.

Or a wire brush. That'll definitely shift it.

Baby wipes, simple and effective and leave your leg looking and feeling like a baby's bum.

New bike with less oil on the chain.

Olive/veg/baby oil, any oil you fell comfortable to put on your skin.
    follewed with wash up liquid.
    Job done

if the dirt oil is on your cloth, WD40 will do a better job than the oil i mentioned above.

3 in 1 hand wipes. Youll get them in an auto factors. Good for cleaning gunk off the bike too.

    Two things.

Baby wipes work brilliantly, as a soldier we use then for removing all sorts of grim and crap (camo cream etc), but you've to make an effort to go out of your way to buy some.

Washing machine powder, we all have it ~ it works, and works brilliantly (better than baby wipes IMO).. The powder works as a dissolvant and is abrasive.

What Wishbone said, oil the chain then remove the excess oil from the outside chain links.

Thanks for the advice (and the laughs!). I'm going to try the baby wipes first as they are the least harsh option. Then I might work my way up through washing up liquid, detergent and WD-40 if needed. Amputation will be my last resort. I did wipe the chain but in a massive hurry and obviously very hit and miss.

I'm liking the tattoo idea though. Maybe I'll start it at my big toe and wind it around my leg a few times to my knee. I'll be well hard then!

I carry a small pack of baby wipes on cycles, great for when you get a puncture or slip a chain on the move.

Better option is to oil up your legs before your spin; any dirt/oil/grime that gets on your legs just wipes away. And you legs look pretty!
