    Hi all!

I am looking to buy a car and I'm hoping you guys can help chose a good one! My budget is 4500Euro max. I am aware I can't be too picky with this sort of budget but I would like something like Ford Focus, VW Golf, Seat Ibiza (however I would go for something different if I have to). I'd prefer something not bigger than 1.6 and just so you know my mileage would be something like 10k KM per year or less!

    Appreciate your help.

    Toyota Corolla hatchback:

1.4 litre is nippy and they tend to give very little trouble.

The VW golf has a 1.6 Litre. I'd recommend the Toyota Corolla or the Ford Focus they are generally good cars. I'd be mixed on the Seat Ibiza.

Ibiza is a from the segment below, it's a rival to the Polo, Fiesta, etc.

I'd recommend the Fiesta over it but all depends what you want from a car and what specs you are looking for and happy with OP.

What about an Audi the lower version an A1 or A3? If its a diesel you looking for a 1.4 or 1.6 be ideal for any car you choose if it has those options.

id go with corolla, decent power from a 1.4 and they are good quality car, i prefer the interior of the corolla to the golf any day, golf mk5 has a plastic feel to it i never liked it when i owned one. Focus would be my second choice then possibly mazda3. Mazda has a nice interior too.

OP only drives 10k km per year and only has a budget of €4.5k though.

I think the decision will be between Corolla and Focus. I like the looks of the Focus more, but the general opinion of the Corolla is that it's a better car with little problems, right?

If I am looking for any of these 2, what is the ''youngest'' I should be able to get with my budget?

Regarding A1 and A3, I dont think my budget if enough for any of those.

05/06, hatchbacks cost more than saloons but hatchback has aged better.

Ah I see. A smaller second hand car spec might suit. A fiesta, polo, golf or yaris be handy. Corolla or an auris be good too or the opel corsa/astra? Hyundai's/Honda's or Mazda's are ok. Nissans are good too.

Highly recommend the Toyota or Ford models.

Of those id get a Corolla. The first two (are they the same car?) are higher spec than the last one which has no aircon

The 2nd focus has the classic 'lady owner ' call seller graham

Those two Focus are woeful imo - underpowered 1.4 litre engine and base models. A 1.6 litre Zetec or Ghia would be way nicer.

It's a UK model 1.4, which is unusual

Is that the only difference between the first 2 and the last one, the air con? I assume I could live without that and its cheaper so... Should I be worried about the high mileage?

There is only €700 in the difference between the asking price of the 05 and 06 Corolla. The higher spec Luna model also adds rear electric windows, digital climate control and nicer fabric seats. Also on a 05/06 car that sort of mileage is not going to be unusual, these are 9/10 year old cars after all. But those Corollas have no problem taking big mileage.

Thanks. Now as you may have noticed I am newbie, do you have idea how much I should be able to negotiate on the Corolla's?
