Half acre - planting trees - advice

Hi, I'm a newbie so here goes. Half to three quarters of an acre of land beside house in countryside. Would like to plant trees in this space. Land is wet and marly and exposed to westerly winds. Shelter is desirable from planting, financial return would be a bonus. Are there financial incentives available? Where can I seek advice on best options? Thanks

A quarter acre (0.1ha) is the minimium stated for broadleaves in the Afforestation Scheme, Rule 4, and there is a minimum width of 40m.

It is the same minimum area under Native Woodland Establishment Scheme 0.1ha, but he minimum average width acceptable is 20m.

If you decide to go ahead yourself then by the sounds of it maby willow would be the way to go. Again your local Teagasc Forestry Adviser may be able to give you a few pointers.
