Wondering if anyone has any idea about this?

got a draft of my lease agreement and in the special considerations section the first point states.

'It is hereby agreed and declared by the parties hereto that this tenancy is for the temporary convenience of the Landlord only'.

Anyone know what this is, and if it has any implications?

Sounds illegal to me. The Residential Tenancies Act makes no provision for such clauses.

Sorry OP but this constitutes legal advice, which is not permitted by the charter. If you need help with a lease please seek advice from a legal professional.

    Thanks.

As the Morrigan has stated- we cannot offer legal advice in this forum.

In short- all tenancies in Ireland are governed by the 2004 Residential Tenancies Act. A lease cannot detract from any rights or obligations laid out in the Act- on the part of either party (the tenant or the landlord). Any stipulation in a lease which attempts to reduce any rights as dictated by the Act- is non-enforceable.

If this is insufficient as an explanation for you- you need to get professional advice.
