I've just passed stage 3 and have been called for the interview at stage 4. I previously did the interview in 2008 but I was unfortunately unsuccessful. Is there anyone else who did the interview before the stop on recruitment and also this time around?
    How does it differ now?
    Thanks

Hi cs89. It's pretty much the exact same. Three on the panel. It's competency based as it was in 08. The only difference is back in 08 you had to fill in examples of the competencies before the interview, with form b if i remember correctly and they would refer to them. This time around you should have examples prepared and memorized as before as you will be asked for examples of time you dealt with conflict etc. My advice would be know your key competencies well, relax, be yourself, and just give whole and honest answers. If you make stuff up, they'll see it a mile away.
    Best of luck.

How long would they be expecting you to speak about a particular problem or can you or are you expected to give more than one?

I have mine the week after next. I conduct competency based interviews as part of my current job and would recommend knowing the STAR technique:

Situation: The interviewer wants you to present a recent challenge and situation in which you found yourself.
Task: What did you have to achieve? The interviewer will be looking to see what you were trying to achieve from the situation.
Action: What did you do? The interviewer will be looking for information on what you did, why you did it and what the alternatives were.
Results: What was the outcome of your actions? What did you achieve through your actions and did you meet your objectives? What did you learn from this experience and have you used this learning since?

This will allow you to show the correct understanding of a competency as well as your skill level within it.
