House survey before making an offer

We are looking at buying a house and went for a first viewing last week. We noticed some visible problems like paint chipping off chimney breast, quite a few cracks(some horizontal), cracked wall tiles and leak marks on one ceiling. Is it worthwhile getting a survey done prior to making an offer? We would like to find out if the problems are just superficial. The house is circa 10 years old.

A survey costs money and an offer costs you nothing . You could be outbid and bang goes your survey and costs. You can always offer and if accepted then get a survey. Then if you wish you can revise your offer or remove your offer. The trick is keep emotion out of it, one I am slowly learning after loosing out on my dream countless times. Good luck
