    Hi folks,

Travelling to Rome next week and want to see all the sights. Just wondering if you need tickets for all the tourists attractions such as The Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Coliseum etc? Or can you get like a city pass that allows you entry to all these things? Is it advisable to book these in advance online because I really don't want to have to spend ages queuing for each one.

    Thanks in advance :)

Definitely book the Coliseum online and if you want to avoid the Vatican ticket queues which are horrendous consider going as part of a guided group tour. We don't generally go on group tours but the Vatican one was well worth it as we skipped the queue and had a hide gor about 3 hours.
Also try and get a place on the Necropolis Tour under the Vatican.....it's amazing.

Thanks johnire for the tips, do you just book the guided Vatican tour over there? And is St. Peter's Basilica a separate tour to the Vatican then?

I booked the Vatican tour before I went online with Isango.com
The meeting point was in a travel agents just opposite the entrance to the Vatican Museums. There were about 15 people in the group. We were able to bypass the queue and go straight through the security checks.
After that the guide who was excellent brought us through the Museums including the Sistine Chapel where we had about 15 minutes. The tour ends in St Peters so you can stay there as long as you like.
I’m not a great fan of being part of a group but I found this well worthwhile as it really did save a lot of hassle. The Vatican Museums are huge and is overwhelming as are the crowds. The guides know them inside out so you’re not wasting time going around in circles and getting lost. Also the guide will impart knowledge about the different art objects.
This was our second time to go there-the first time we did it ourselves but I definitely found the group tour much better.
Isango offered good value…I think it was about €32.00 each. Also keep an eye out for 10% discount codes they offer from time to time. Viator are a similar price I think and again offer a 10%discount every so often.
    Have a lovely time.

The colosseum tours are varied in terms of what areas you get into. We did one that took us to the very upper level, where most other tours couldn't go. I'm not sure who it was through (I didn't book it) but its worth comparing a few.
