    Hi

I bought a vicon speader a wagtail thats holds 10 bags. This is coming from a 5 bag spinner. Now I could spread with my eyes closed with the spinner but I don't have a clue what width to drive, what speed and what rate to open the holes at with the vicon
I spread bits the other day with it for pasture and I'm still none the wiser. I will be spreading for sileage ground in the next 4 weeks and I will need to get that right. I usually put out 2.5 to 3 bags per acre. What why would I work this. I know vicon have an app, I downloaded that but it makes no sense
    Any help would be great
    Thanks

How do you manage to put it on heavy enough on the headland by lapping that way. Surely from 1st wheel track to wall/fence will only get half what the rest of the field gets ???

it depends on what you're spreading.

I used a wagtail for the first time last year.

1/3 of an acre is 112M long at 12m wide so mark that out and put in one bag to test for three bags to the acre.

I found 44 on the setting was just right for three bags of cut sward to the acre.

An update on this. I found using the setting 28 or 30 driving at around 7.5 to 8 km per hour about 3-4 yeards apart worked very well for 3 bags to the acre. I am guessing I could have opened it up a bit more a drove a small bit wider but it worked ok for me. Took alot of guessing to begin with. I tried it out on pasture ground first so worked on from there. Its trial and error really.. See how it grows now..lol
