Calabria and Sicily for honeymoon

    Anyone been around this area of Italy in July and have any recommendations? I dont think Calabria is as popular as other areas. We will have over two weeks, and a healthy (but not unlimited) budget.

    We would like to chill somewhere for the first four or five days and then be more active after that.

    I would highly recommend staying in Tropea - a medieval town carved into a cliff but with wonderful sandy beaches.

    Fly into Lamezia or Catania and hire a car when you want to be more active. When we were there, we noticed very few foreign tourists and the village we stayed in (Ricadi) nobody spoke English, which is something to be aware of in rural Calabria . It will be HOT in July.

    I'd definitely recommend Tropea as well. It's a beautiful place, it's very chilled, and ideal for a couple.

    Any nice hotel recommendations? We are thinking of flying in to Naples and out of Catania, or vice versa. Maybe its mad in the heat there, although I dont mind heat too much. Up to 35C is easily fine.
