Has anyone ever used a hose clamp like the picture attached? Want to confirm how they work.

I assume the small metal slide comes off, place hose between the single arm & looped section and lock in place with the slide? Can someone please confirm? Thanks.

If you can't figure out something as simple as a hose clamp I think you should get someone else to do the job.

The left hand side goes around youre pipe and then slide the ring down along the lever to clamp.

What are you trying to clamp these are only designed to clamp something like a flexible brake pipe with a diameter of about 10 to 15 mm.

I think... Place the hose between the two short ends. Squeeze the long handle against the loop, and slide s down the clip to lock

Slide the retainer ring towards the hinge (to the left, in the picture you posted) until it sits in the 'elbow' of the handle.
This will open the jaws of the clamp as far as they will go.
Place the jaws of the clamp over your chosen hose and close the handle as far as necessary, like using a pliers.
Slide the ring along the handle until it holds the handle where you want it.

Remember, you only need to clamp the hose until you've sealed it. There's no need to crush it with a gorilla-like grip. Over-clamping can and will damage hoses.

Thanks to those who provided helpful replies.

When I finally got the new clamp out of the packet it became pretty obvious how they work.

I've attached a couple of photos if anyone ever needs them for reference.

I can help but I'd have serious reservations giving advice to the op especially if they're going at fuel or brake hoses. Some jobs are best entrusted to people who do it for a living. Incorrectly clamping a brake or fuel line can have very serious consequences.

i like the serrations on tool to hold clamp in place as the round one i had used to slide open,i use these now on flexy brake pipes.
