Anyone come across the explanatory booklet for this campaign yet? Can't see it on the website.

This wouldn't be for me but I'm interested to see if they changed the rule which excluded laser-eye surgery recipients from passing the medical.

They've been 'reviewing' changing that rule for a couple of years at least. Still haven't changed it yet though, to the best of my knowledge (as of March 2014 anyway).

Can't figure why - our nearest neighbours allow people to apply so long as they haven't had the operation done in the preceding twelve months.

Can they prove that you had laser surgery? What if you just say nothing.

Hi guys quick question, as I have overheard two chaps talking the other day about cadetships. One lad said he would apply with a fake copy of the LC showing he had correct marks in his LC to be eligible for the competition and was saying he would get passed the army as they never really check?

please tell me the army checks these with the department of education ? it would scare me to thing that these clowns would one day be leaders of our military if they got in.

In addition to being dishonest/dishonorable, this 'chap' would be open to action under military law for lying on his application - especially if said lie was only discovered later.

Personally, I suggest you tell him as much and report him if he applies to join under false pretenses. People may not like all the regulations governing the application process - but you're right in being concerned about this guy getting in if (a) he's willing to lie about things like this and (b) he didn't meet those requirements. Just my two cents.

That chap has been watching too much Suits. From experience, I know that the Public Appointments Service have a direct line to the State Examinations Commission, you provide your exam number and they pull your results. It would make sense that the Defence Forces have that facility as well.

Ive applied for the Air Corps cadetship , Ive a transport management and technology degree so hopefully that might help a little, but seeing as the air corps cadetship is limited to 9 places I may apply for the army and naval service cadetships also, my dad used to be a commandant and suggested I do so I probably will.
Does anyone know how many places are available on the army and naval service cadetships? I imagine its more that the air corps?
