I'm heading to Albufeira in a few weeks time and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations regarding nice restaurants or places of interest to visit. Any imfo. given would be greatly appreciated.:)

The old town has hundreds and to be honest, it doesn't make a lot of difference where you go. I suggest you pick a few from reviews on Tripadvisor - just be careful to spot the ones written by the owners!

Cabana Da Fresca right on the beach front in old town
Most places down in old town are lovely but that was absolutely lovely. Can't recommend it enough .
I am not a desert person AT ALL but their chocolate lasagna was unreal !
Also Casa del fonte ( I think) just off the old town square . It's the place with real lemon tress growing in it. Very nice atmosphere and food.
If you like Indian The Clay Oven halfway between old and new town is lovely too and great value
To be honest most places are nice but those are there that came to mind

Thanks so much for those recommendations .I will certainly try them out.

I have no idea how to spot the owners on trip advisor

Well, one clue is how many posts the contributor has made. If it is their only one and they are raving about a place, you can be suspicious!

With TA, the basic rule is the more posts, the more credible the poster. (a) they are less likely to be friends of the owner and (b) the more widely travelled, the more qualified to judge.

Great food to be had here...try the seafood cataplana, and dig in with your fingers to crack open the shells :)

Lagos is a lovely town. I'd live there if I could choose anywhere. I'd say spend a day up there if you get the chance. Tons of lovely beaches, and plenty of great restaurants.

    My red flags ....
    1. The word 'amazing' - if I see that I'm not reading anything else
    2. Praise for unspecific service - 'the staff couldn't do enough for us'
    3. Singling out individual member of staff for praise - people really lose the run of themselves when inserting fake reviews

Might seem stupid but where is the old town and the new town? We are going to Albuferia in June and staying in Praia da Oura. Is that nearer to Old Town or New Town?

    I stayed there too
its at the bottom of The Strip/New Town
old town is walkable depending on time of day as some parts are hilly
taxi is only a fiver OR the little tourist train runs every 15 min's from middle of strip

I think Praia da Oura is nearer Strip.

    Have a great holiday.
