Cant understand Final JSA Payment

I'm getting €180pw JSA and get paid on Thursday into my bank.

JSA is paid a week in arrears, so I'm guessing the payment I get on Thursdays covers the previous Thursday to Wednesday period.



Thursday 19th March - I got €180
Friday 20th March - I got €64.60 which is final payment (I'm guessing) as I'm transferring to SPC on 25th March next week.

But €64.60 doesn't work out correctly, be it for 1,2, or 3 days as a fraction of €180. Unless there is a further payment due later.

From Thursday 19th to Tuesday 24th March am I not entitled to 5 days payment 180/6*5 = €150


Just curious more than anything why the sums don't add up

I'm not sure what SPC is but I know that people transfering to an from FAS usually get way less than they expected, it seems some schemes run from different days. Not sure if thats any help.

The payment receipt usually says payment for 6 days so maybe your payment is 188 / 6 = 31.33 *2 for 2 days?

JSA payment week is Wednesday to Tuesday.

Hi. JSA is paid on a current week basis. The week runs Wednesday to Tuesday. When you receive your payment on Thursday it covers you to the Tuesday prior. So payment on 19th was for week ending 17th March. You should receive €180 again on 26th March paying you to Tuesday 24th March and payment then comes in for SPC. SPC is paid usually on a Friday so I would say the €64.60 payment is the SPC paying a week in advance ( different claims pay different weeks) this is most likely a 2/6 payment for the SPC.

Hi Sue Ellen, thanks for that, I'm due the SPC next wednesday, so would be due 4/6 payment for wed/thur/fri/sat and not 2/6


My pension rate is €225.80 and if you divide that by 7 and multiply by 2 you get €64.51 which is close enough and if they gave me another €64.60 next week that would cover the 4/6 payment.


I know the dept now regards Sundays as just another day of work so would they be using a 7 day payment system perhaps.

Today got my full State Pension. So it appears they don't break SPC down into days for the first week of payment (mine was due from Wednesday last)

Can anyone confirm if this is right.
