Laptop not turning on

    Hi,

I have a packard bell easy note ts11 and it was working well until my mother tried to charge it with the charger off her portable hover. The laptop was off or in sleep mode when she plugged the charger in. At the moment it won't turn on and is showing no signs of life.

I have tried removing the battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds and plugging it in but it done nothing. Is there anything else I could try and do to get it working?

    Thanks for any help

    That's one I hadn't heard before :)

Joking aside, is there a smell of anything burnt/burning from the underside... Even a faint whiff. Sounds like she toasted it. If it's not charging off the actual proper charger, I'd say you're in a spot of bother...

Sounds like she might have short-circuted the wires, I'd probably go get it checked since it might be fried.

Like what Muffin-Man said she might have short-circuted the wires, I'd probably go get it checked since it might be fried.

Yeah that's what I thought myself. I was just hoping there might of been something else silly that might have been worth a try.

I couldn't smell anything from it but it did happen last night so any smells may have faded away.

    Thanks for the help anyway.

Just out of curiosity, if it is fried, have u any options? i have a hdd that had the same symptoms with smell and then not recieving power. replaced case and no joy so was gonna look into replacing motherboard/circuit board.

There is most probably a fuse soldered onto the board that took the hit(fingers crossed).Problem is trying to find someone that has the ability to diagnose/replace it for a reasonable cost.

OP, when u plug the correct charger in, are there any lights coming on at the charge point for the laptop, or around the power button.... The usual lights that might come on to indicate that the laptop is in charge mode.

At worst, even if the board is fried, you will/should be able to save the hard drive, which is where all your files will be.

@ muppet man no there is no lights coming on what's so even when u plug it in. When it's on charge you would usually get an amber light flashing on the keyboard but that isn't doing anything.

A friend of mine has the wires to connect the hdd to a differnt system to swap over the files so if it's bricked I'll just get a lend. I'll get someone to take a look at it and update the thread.
