Is it possible to get new insurance with an open claim against me

    Had an accident in October of last year and the claim has still not been settied, the accident was in a work van van and I was a named driver.
    bought my own car yesterday and have rang numerous insurance companies and all have said they can't insure me until the claim is settled.
    just wondering does anyone have any experience of insurers that will cover me whilst the claim is still open and who should I be ringing?
